The M1 Caliber is a unique device that is built to support speed and accuracy of measurements. However, there are some best practices that will ensure you always get desired results.
Push material against fence when sliding
Ensuring material moves in a straight line is essential for accurate and precise cuts. Using light pressure when sliding, be sure the material is always in contact with the back of the fence and the base of the saw to ensure it travels in a generally straight line.
Consistent movements
There is no speed limit for how fast you move material. However, it is important you consistently slide the material and not to jerk it or move it back and forth unnecessarily.
Keep the wheel clean
Wheel should be clean and free of debris at all times. While light dust from routine cutting wont cause any issues, more severe dust particles can cause inaccuracies in measurements.
Calibrate when switching material types
The M1 behaves slightly differently based on the material being measured. Ensure a new calibration is performed when switching material types.
Comments
Is it necessary to recalibrate from board to board if the material does not change? Do I just set the next board against the blade then measure to cut?
Hello Theodore, there is no need to recalibrate if the material type not changing. When cutting the same type of material, simply begin your measurement as you always would (hit the zero button when the material is in contact with the blade) and begin your cut!
