[T1M] Why does the keyboard on my iOS device disappear when connected to the T1M in Keyboard Mode?

When your iPhone or iPad is connected to the T1M in Keyboard Mode, you may notice that the on-screen keyboard disappears. This is normal and is caused by how iOS handles external keyboards.

Why does this happen?

iOS hides the on-screen keyboard whenever it detects that an external keyboard is connected. The T1/T1M sends measurements by emulating a keyboard, so iOS treats it the same as a physical keyboard device.

  • The on-screen keyboard will not appear while the T1/T1M is actively connected in Keyboard Mode.
  • The keyboard will return once the device is disconnected or switched out of Keyboard Mode.

New Bypass Option Available

This limitation can now be bypassed if your T1M is running Firmware V1.0.11 or later.

When the device is in Keyboard Mode, a new quick action will appear on the T1M’s screen labeled "Show KB".

  • If your iOS device is not displaying the on-screen keyboard, pressing Show KB will force the keyboard to appear.
  • Pressing Show KB again will hide the keyboard.
  • If you have not updated your T1M, you can follow our guide here for instructions on how to do so: [T1M] Updating Firmware
