[BOLDR] Type of Jobs

BOLDR Pro supports different Job types, so you can choose the best workflow for each task. The two primary options are Measurement List Jobs and Template Jobs. While similar in some respects, each type of job has a specific way of handling measurement data.

Measurement List Jobs (Green Highlight)

A Measurement List Job is designed for fast, repeatable measuring, where each new measurement is simply added to a list. This is similar to the ROCK app workflow: you measure a piece, and it is immediately recorded into the job’s measurement list.

Measurement Lists Jobs are ideal for scenarios like framing, trim, or panel cutting, where you just need to collect lengths and quantities quickly and turn them into a cut list for the shop or saw station. Measurements can be labeled and sorted into groups and are the quickest way to create a collection of measurements.

Measurements can be labeled, organized into groups, put over a photo/PDF, and completed.

Template Jobs (Blue Highlight)

A Template Job uses predefined input fields tailored to a specific task. Instead of a simple running list, you work through structured “fill-in-the-blank” fields that match the measurements you need to capture.

This type of job is useful where structure is needed for labeling or collaborative purposes and effectively makes it a process of selection and population of a given measurement.

For example, a window measuring template might include inputs for width and height. Each time you measure a window, you fill in those fields so the data stays consistent and ready for export or fabrication.

When to Use Each Job Type

Use a Measurement List Job when speed and a running list of parts are the priority, such as cutting trim, studs, or panels. Use a Template Job when you need structured, repeatable data collection with clearly labeled fields, such as windows, doors, casework, or inspections.

Both Job types benefit from connected tools and real-time syncing, but the layout and level of structure are tailored to different types of work.
