Tolerances in BOLDR Pro let you define an acceptable range around a target measurement so you can quickly see whether openings or parts are in-spec or need correction. This will define both a nominal value and an acceptable range, triggering a color change if values are in or out of range.
Tolerance Components in Templates
In template input fields, measurement columns can include a target value along with minimum, maximum, and deviation values that describe the allowed range.
These values drive grid highlights and status indicators so you can visually scan for out-of-range measurements during review.
Defining Tolerances for a Measurement
To define a tolerance, you start with the nominal target (for example, a door or window rough opening width) and decide how far above or below that value is acceptable.
The minimum and maximum fields then store that range, such as a 36 in target with a ±0.25 in tolerance, represented as .25 in minimum and .25 in maximum.
Setting a Tolerance in a Template
You can configure tolerance values directly in your template so that every job created from that template inherits the same acceptable range for each measurement.
- Navigate to the Template Job you want to edit.
- Locate the measurement column where you want to set a tolerance (such as Width or Height).
- Click the down arrow drop menu next to the measurement column header. Then Select Tolerances.
- In the tolerance configuration panel, enter your Target value (the nominal measurement you expect).
- Enter the Minimum deviation (how far below the target is acceptable).
- Enter the Maximum deviation (how far above the target is acceptable).
- Click Save or Apply to store the tolerance settings for that measurement column.
Once saved, any job created from this template will automatically apply the tolerance range, and measurements will display color indicators based on how close they are to the target.
Using Tolerances Within a Job
Inside a job, you can open the tolerance settings to control how measurements in the board or list views change color as they move further from the target.
A tolerance gradient bar shows in-tolerance measurements in green and gradually shifts toward warning or out-of-tolerance colors as deviation increases.
Configuring Tolerance Thresholds
Thresholds let you create percentage breakpoints where measurements switch from the default in-tolerance color to specific alert colors.
- Open your job and go to the measurement view (such as the board view) where the Tolerance button is available.
- Click Tolerance to open the Tolerance Thresholds window.
- Under Thresholds, use the At dropdown to choose the percentage deviation (for example, 25%).
- Select a Color to indicate measurements that reach or exceed that percentage threshold.
- Click Add Threshold to define additional levels if you want multiple stages of warning as deviation increases.
- Use Reset to return to the default gradient or Save to apply your changes to the job.
Once thresholds are saved, any measurements in the job will update their colors based on how far they are from the template's targets, giving you instant feedback while you measure.
