[BOLDR] Creating a Template

Templates in BOLDR Pro let you define reusable measurement forms with named fields, diagrams, and attachments so you can standardize how measurements are captured across similar projects. When templates are created, anyone in your organization can access the templates to use in various jobs.

Templates can only be created in the Desktop mode on a web browser.

Creating a Template on Desktop

Use the Templates tab on the desktop web portal to create new templates that your team can use across projects.

  1. On desktop, click the Templates tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Then, click the + Add Template button in the top right corner.

Adding Template Details

In the Create Template view, you set the basic information for the template so it is easy to find and understand later.

  1. Enter a clear Name for the template, such as the opening type or use case.
  2. Enter a Description that explains when and how this template should be used.
  3. Upload a Diagram file (for example, a window or door diagram) to visually show where each measurement belongs. This can be a PDF or Image.
  4. Use the Additional File area to attach extra reference files such as spec sheets, install instructions, or PDFs.

Configuring Input Fields

Input Fields define the data that will be captured when someone uses the template in a project.

Each row in the Input Fields table represents one field and includes an ID, a Name, and one or more columns that store values or calculated results.

Adding Columns to Input Fields

Use the + Column menu to choose what type of data each field should collect or calculate.

  1. Click + Column on an Input Field row.
  2. Select the column type that matches the value you want to store.

The following column types are available:

  • Formula: Calculates a value based on other fields in the template, such as total width or area.
  • Text: Stores free-form notes or labels, such as room name or opening ID.
  • Number: Captures numeric values that are not measurements, such as quantity or rating.
  • Measurement: Stores measured dimensions using your project’s units, such as height, width, or depth.
  • Boolean: Records a simple yes/no or true/false value, such as “Tempered Glass Required.”
  • Single Select: Lets you pick one option from a predefined list, such as material type or configuration.
  • Angle: Tracks angle values for installations that require specific degrees or miters.
  • Conversion Table: Applies a lookup or conversion table to translate an input into a standardized output, such as size codes or pricing tiers.

After defining your fields and columns, click Save Template to make the template available for use in projects on web and mobile.
