Image fields let you add photos or visual references directly to your labels. You can import images from your device's photo library, capture a new photo with your camera, or pull images from files attached to the current job in BOLDR Pro.
Adding an Image Field
- In the label editor, tap the + inside a cell to open the Add Input Field menu.
- Select Image Field.
- Choose your image source from the available import options.
Image Import Options
- From Library — Select a photo or image from your device's photo library, including saved images, screenshots, or downloaded files.
- Camera — Take a new photo directly from within the label editor for immediate use on your label.
- Job File — Select an image from the files attached to the current job in BOLDR Pro.
Editing an Image After Adding It
Tap the image on your label to open the Edit Image menu with the following options:
- Add / Replace Image — Opens the import menu again so you can swap the current image for a different one.
Crop and Scale — Opens an image editor where you can adjust the visible portion of the image within the cell. Drag to reposition, and choose between two scaling modes:
- Fill to field — Scales the image to fill the entire cell, cropping edges as needed to maintain aspect ratio.
- Fit to field — Scales the image to display completely within the cell boundaries, adding letterboxing if needed.
The image editor also includes markup tools for annotating the image before placing it on the label: freehand drawing, text overlay, shape tools (circles, rectangles, etc.), and undo/redo. These are useful for highlighting specific areas in reference photos or adding callouts to installation images.
- Rotate Field — Rotate the image within the cell. Each tap rotates by 90°.
- Clear Field Type — Remove the image but keep the empty cell on the label.
- Delete Cell — Remove the entire cell from the label layout.
Tips for Using Image Fields
- Images print in black and white, so choose photos with strong contrast for the best readability.
- Simple images with clear subjects print more legibly than busy or detailed photos at small label sizes.
- Use Fit to field when you need the entire image visible, and Fill to field when you want a cleaner look and don't mind some cropping.
- Use the Preview button to check how the image will appear at print size before sending to the printer.
