[P1L] Creating QR Code Labels in BOLDR Pro

QR codes allow you to embed scannable links directly into your printed labels. You can link a QR code to an external URL, a BOLDR Pro project, a specific job, group, individual measurement, or a job file, making it easy for anyone on-site to scan a label and instantly access the relevant data.

Adding a QR Code to Your Label

  • In the label editor, tap the + inside a cell to open the Add Input Field menu.
  • Select QR Code from the list of available input fields.
  • A Link menu will appear, prompting you to choose what the QR code should link to.

QR Code Link Options

When you add a QR code, you choose from six link types. The QR code is generated automatically based on your selection.

External Link (URL)

  • Links the QR code to any website or external URL you enter manually.
  • After selecting this option, a text field will appear where you can type or paste the URL. Tap Generate QR Code to confirm.
  • Useful for linking to external documentation, spec sheets, supplier pages, or any web-based resource relevant to the job.

Active Project

  • Links the QR code to the project that is currently active in BOLDR Pro.
  • When scanned, the QR code opens the full project view, giving the scanner access to all jobs, groups, and measurements within that project.
  • Ideal for labeling materials or work areas associated with a specific project so team members can quickly pull up all related data.

Active Job

  • Links the QR code to the specific job that is currently selected within the active project.
  • When scanned, the QR code opens directly to that job and its associated groups and measurements.
  • Useful when you want to point someone to a specific scope of work rather than the entire project.

Group

  • Links the QR code to a specific measurement group within the active job.
  • After selecting this option, you will be shown your available groups to choose from.
  • Great for labeling individual assemblies, sections, or components that correspond to a particular group of measurements.

Measurement

  • Links the QR code to a single measurement within the active job.
  • After selecting this option, your measurement grid will appear and you can tap the specific measurement to link.
  • Best for labels that need to reference one exact dimension, such as labeling a cut piece with a scannable reference back to its recorded measurement.

Job File

  • Links the QR code to a file that has been attached to the current job (such as a PDF, drawing, or reference document).
  • After selecting this option, you will be shown the files associated with the job to choose from.
  • Useful for giving on-site workers quick scan access to blueprints, plans, or other reference documents without needing to navigate through the app.

Editing a QR Code After Adding It

Tap the QR code on your label to open the Edit QR Code menu with the following options:

  • Add / Replace Link — Opens the Link menu again so you can change what the QR code points to.
  • Rotate Field — Rotates the QR code within the cell.
  • Clear Field Type — Removes the QR code but keeps the empty cell on the label.
  • Delete Cell — Removes the entire cell from the label layout.
