[P1L] Adding Measurements to a Label in BOLDR Pro

The Measurement Field lets you pull a specific measurement from your active job directly onto a printed label. The label displays the measurement value, its ID, unit, name, and a checkbox, giving you a ready-to-use label that can be applied to the corresponding cut piece or material on-site.

Adding a Measurement to Your Label

  1. In the label editor, tap the + inside a cell to open the Add Input Field menu.
  2. Select Measurement Field from the list of available input fields.
  3. Your measurement grid will appear, showing all measurements from the active job organized by group. Scroll through the available groups and tap the measurement you want to add.
  4. The selected measurement will be placed into the cell on your label.

Selecting from the Measurement Grid

The measurement picker displays all measurements from your current job, organized by group. Each measurement tile shows the measurement ID, value, unit, and name.

  • Measurements are grouped under their respective group headers (e.g., "Garage," "Floor 1," "Group B"). Scroll down to find the group containing the measurement you need.
  • You can select measurements from any group within the active job, including groups that were imported from other sources.
  • Tap any measurement tile to select it. The measurement will immediately populate in the label cell.

What the Measurement Label Displays

Once placed on the label, the measurement field displays several pieces of information:

  • Measurement ID — The alphanumeric identifier (e.g., A1, A10, B2) shown in the top-left corner of the label cell.
  • Unit — The unit of measurement (e.g., "in" for inches) displayed next to the ID.
  • Value — The measurement value displayed prominently in the center of the cell (e.g., 21 1/8, 45 1/8). Fractional values are displayed in proper fraction format.
  • Measurement Name — The name or label assigned to the measurement (e.g., "Measurement 1," "Top piece h") shown at the bottom of the cell.
  • Checkbox — A small checkbox in the top-right corner that can be used to mark the piece as cut or completed on-site.

Editing a Measurement After Adding It

Tap the measurement on your label to open the Edit Measurement menu with the following options:

  • Add / Replace Measurement — Opens the measurement grid again so you can swap the current measurement for a different one from the active job.
  • Rotate Field — Rotates the measurement field within the cell. Each tap rotates the content by 90°.
  • Clear Field Type — Removes the measurement but keeps the empty cell on the label.
  • Delete Cell — Removes the entire cell from the label.

Best Practices

  • Use measurement labels to tag individual cut pieces so they can be identified and verified on-site without needing to reference the app.
  • The on-label checkbox is useful for tracking which pieces have been cut or installed during the workflow.
  • Combine measurement fields with other label elements like icons, company logos, or QR codes to create comprehensive labels that include both the dimension and supporting context.
  • If you need to print labels for multiple measurements, you can add each one to a separate cell on the same label, or use the Print Multiple option to print individual labels in sequence.
  • Use the Preview button at the top of the label editor to verify the measurement displays correctly before printing.
