[T1R] Digital Tape Measure Mode Overview

The Digital Tape Measure is the default tool on the T1R Range, active automatically each time the device powers on. It delivers clear measurements with ±1/32" (±0.50mm) accuracy.

Taking a Measurement

  1. Press any button to power on the device. The T1R will launch directly into the Digital Tape Measure.
  2. Pull the tape to the desired length.
  3. Press the Capture + button to save the measurement.

Saved measurements are stored in the Saved Measurements List on the device and sent to the BOLDR Pro App if connected via Bluetooth.

Light and Heavy Measurements

The T1R displays measurements as either "heavy" or "light" depending on whether the tape blade has a physical marking at that position.

  • Heavy measurements fall on a marked graduation on the tape blade.
  • Light measurements fall between markings.

To help balance speed and accuracy, the T1R adds an X marker to indicate how close a measurement is to the nearest fractional unit. Arrows pointing left (<) or right (>) show which direction to move to hit the exact mark. This feature is only available in fractional display modes.

The Blade Hook

The metal hook at the end of the tape blade is designed to self-compensate depending on how you're measuring.

  • Exterior measurements — Hook the metal end over the edge of a surface. The hook slides away from the case by its own thickness (0.05" / 1.27mm), so you don't need to account for it in your measurement.
  • Interior measurements — Push the hook against the inside of the material. The hook slides toward the case and becomes part of the measurement automatically.

Autolock

By default, the tape blade remains extended and will not retract unless the Autolock button is pressed. You can enable automatic retraction using the Autolock feature.

  • Press the Autolock button, then slide the selection slider to the left to enable Autolock, or to the right to disable it.

Dashing on the Display

If dashes appear on the screen instead of a measurement, this is a normal part of T1R operation. Dashing is a built-in feature that prevents incorrect measurements from being displayed, and reflects the device's error-checking system.

Dashing may occur during initial startup or routine use. To resolve it, extend and retract the tape blade. The T1R will quickly recalibrate its position and display the correct measurement.
