Accuracy Testing with the Accuracy Block - Push Testing

The Tape Measure Accuracy Block is used to check if your tape measure reads correctly. This ensures your measurements are precise and consistent across all applications.

Step 1: Select the Correct Side

  • Determine your tape width:
    • Side A (1-1/16") for REEKON and other narrow tapes
    • Side B (1-1/4") for most standard wide tapes (Milwaukee, DeWalt, Stanley)

Step 2: Insert the Tape Hook

  • Place the tape hook into the Tape Hook Insert slot and seat it securely in the opening. Make sure it rests flat against the reference surface.

Step 3: Perform the Test

  • For a Push Test – keep the block steady and push the tape blade to the top of the slot. Ensure the tape is parallel with the edge of the block, then determine which ½" increment  (0.5", 1", 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3", or 3.5") is best aligned with a dashed line on the Accuracy Block
  • Ensure the tape is flat against the block surface with no gaps.

Note: The Accuracy Block uses a vernier scale, meaning only one ½" increment on your tape will align with a marking at a time. Look for the single best-aligned marking.

Step 4: Read the Result

  • If the marker aligns with "0" → Tape is accurate.
  • If the marker aligns with a "+" marking → Tape reads long by the indicated amount
  • If the marker aligns with a "–" marking → Tape reads short by the indicated amount
